Tea in Savannah, Georgia

“Can I have a cup Darjeeling?”

“First, second, third, or fourth flush?”

“Er…”

“First flush is white, second is what you usually drink, third is autumnal, and the fourth is green. The Margaret’s Hope is particularly good his year. Some years it’s almost undrinkable.”

“Well maybe I should try the white, something different.”

“No,” said the old woman with irrefutable firmness. “The second flush from Margaret’s Hope is so very good this year. I had trouble getting it.”

“I’ll have that then. I drink it without milk.”

“Of course. Anything else would be irresponsible.”
